Orifice flange can be classified in to Welding neck orifice flange, Slip on orifice flange and threaded orifice flange according to it's connecting type. Orifice flange are similar almost in every aspect to each respective flanges. The only difference is that Orifice flange has holes in each side of the flange perpendicular to the bolt holes. These holes act as instrumentation outlets for such things as pressure gauges, flow speedometers ect. These holes can be threaded or socket in a variety of sizes. Another smaller holes is made among the bolt hole pattern to accommodate a jack screw to assist in separating the flanges after installation or for other inspection services.
Orifice Flanges are used with orifice meters for the measuring the flow rating of either liquids or gases in the respective pipeline system. Orifice flanges is normally produced in either raised faces or RTJ (Ring Type Joint) facings. Orifice flange are for all intensive purposes, the same as weld neck and slip-on flanges. Orifice flange have modifications of radial tapped holes in the flange ring for meter connections and orifice plate carriers for the reason of fitting meter connections.
